The Golden Rockets are excited to confirm the hiring of Jared (Jed) Houseman as our new Head Coach & General Manager. Jed moves into our top coaching leadership role after spending two years working with the Rockets as an Assistant Coach.
Jed brings with him a wealth of tactical and technical knowledge from many years as a player in the SVHL playing with and against numerous NHL, AHL, WHL, CIS, NCAA athletes, coaching for Team Saskatchewan, coach mentoring and evaluating hockey performance for national tournaments.
Rockets President, Marko Shehovac comments,
“We are looking forward to the 2024/2025 season with Jed taking the reins as the Head Coach. Jed has gathered a strong team on the bench to share the load. Fans can expect an exciting and winning team with the players Jed will be busy recruiting”.
Since moving to Golden, Jed has continued his professional development through attending the NHLCA Global Coaches conference, achieving his Development 1 and High Performance coaching qualifications and has been approached by BC Hockey to work with them at a provincial level as an evaluator for their Program of Excellence.
Jed and his family are already valuable members of our Golden community, having chosen to make Golden their family home 3 years ago. His wife Dani is a much loved Dentist and if you’re a Rockets fan, you will no doubt have met their three year old daughter Brynn at Rockets games.
Jed is committed to using his skill development experience and network of connections throughout North America to create a winning team and culture, and is invested in evolving our athletes and Rockets Junior Hockey in Golden to the highest level.
