Rockets’ Ballance signs with MJHL’s Nighthawks

Golden Rockets forward Aidan Ballance is the second KIJHL player to sign with the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s expansion Niverville Nighthawks.

Ballance was fourth on the Rockets in points with nine goals and 10 assist in 38 games. He added another three assists in four playoff games.

“I had a pretty good year. I would have liked to have more points, but points aren’t everything,” said Ballance, who developed strong defensive skills during his rookie season with Golden. “I really grew as a player and as a person this season. I really liked the way I played and felt I was one of the top players on my team and on the ice every night.”

Of Ballance’s 19 points, eight came on the power-play and he scored a short-handed goal. At 5-9, 175-pounds, the 18-year-old will bring speed to the Nighthawks lineup and a physical element.

The Edmonton native is excited to be part of the Nighthawks inaugural season. In their team announcement of his signing, the Nighthawks said Ballance will bring speed, compete and character.
