Rockets’ Aebly signs with ACAC’s Voyageurs

Golden Rockets defenceman Ethan Aebly will play for the Portage College Voyageurs in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference in 2023-24.

Aebly, 19, recorded 42 points in 40 games for the Rockets, which ranked him second among all KIJHL defenceman. It was a career season in all offensive categories for Aebly, who finished his KIJHL career with 54 points in 83 games. He had two points in nine playoff games. Aebly began his KIJHL career with the Castlegar Rebels in 2021-22 then was moved to the Rockets.

“I’m excited to further my education and play hockey at the college level a little closer to home,” said the Grande Prairie, Alberta product. “I’m also very thankful for the organization and head coach Chuck Wight for acquiring me last season. I was always put into a position to succeed and develop in Golden and am very grateful for it.”

Wight said Aebly made a big impact on the team and is ready for a new challenge.

“Golden thanks him for his efforts and wishes him all the best in his academic and hockey pursuits,” said Wight.
