KIJHL announces Team of the Week (Week 14)

The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Dec.21.

Forwards

Hayden Iron Shirt – Golden Rockets
After setting up the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory over the Kimberley Dynamiters, the Lethbridge native erupted for a hat trick—including the winner—and five points in a 7-3 win over the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. Iron Shirt averaged 18:35 of ice time per game, finished +8, and was not on the ice for a goal against.

Kaden Wilkins – Merritt Centennials
Wilkins recorded a season-high five points (2G, 3A) while dominating in a 12-6 win over the Kelowna Chiefs. The Rumsey, Alta., native scored the game-winner and was +5 over two games.

Levi Astill – Grand Forks Border Bruins
Astill scored the game-winning goal midway through the first period against the Nelson Leafs and added three assists in a 7-1 victory. In four games against Nelson this season, Astill has been unstoppable, producing six goals and nine points. This marks his third straight Team of the Week selection.

Defence

Logan McCabe – Grand Forks Border Bruins
McCabe was a key contributor from the blueline in the Border Bruins’ 7-1 win over Nelson, setting up Astill for the winner before adding assists on goals by Hayden Evans and Devon Boyle. He logged 20:48 of ice time, finished +3, to earn his second straight Team of the Week selection.

Ryan Neufeld – Beaver Valley Nitehawks
In a 4-3 win over the Castlegar Rebels, Neufeld assisted on Ayden Probe’s short-handed goal to give Beaver Valley a 3-2 lead before scoring the game-winner. He was +3 and averaged 24:50 of ice time per game.

Goalie

Beck Boiteau – Golden Rockets
Boiteau was sharp in a 3-1 win over the division-leading Kimberley Dynamiters, stopping 39 of 40 shots. The Medicine Hat native posted a 1.00 goals-against average and a .975 save percentage, including 14 saves on 15 second-period shots. This is Boiteau’s second Team of the Week selection.
