The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce its Team of the Week for the period ending Feb. 15.
Forwards
Luke Davies – Kimberley Dynamiters
The Calgary native was excellent in a pair of wins, starting with scoring two goals (power-play and short-handed) and collecting two assists in a 7-3 win over the Columbia Valley Rockies. He opened the scoring in that game and did the same in their 6-3 win over the Castlegar Rebels and assisted on their 2-1 goal. Davies played an average of 19:29 a game and was +8.
Hayden Iron Shirt – Golden Rockets
In a split during the week, the Lethbridge native had five assists in two games, including three in their 5-4 win over the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. Iron Shirt played a ton – averaging 28:59 of time a game.
Rylan Davis – Castlegar Rebels
In their 5-1 win over the Nelson Leafs, the Prince George native scored the opening goal, then assisted on all their goals in a 6-3 loss to the Dynamiters to finish with four points. Davis played an average of 17:16 a game and was +2.
Defenceman
Faris Meddeb – Revelstoke Grizzlies
The Calgary native had a goal and three assists in two games as the Grizzlies defeated the Sicamous Eagles 7-0 and the Merritt Centennials 2-0. Meddeb assisted on the winner against Sicamous, then the insurance goal against Merritt. He was +6 while playing an average of 21:36 a game.
Kaelen Halowaty – Osoyoos Coyotes
The Whitehorse, Yukon native had a goal and five points in two games, collecting three assists in their win over the Kelowna Chiefs. He was +3 while playing heavy minutes – an average of 27:09 a game.
Goalie
Austin Seibel – Revelstoke Grizzlies
The Coldstream, B.C. native posted back-to-back shutouts stopping 60 shots in wins over the Sicamous Eagles and Merritt Centennials (33 saves). Seibel leads the KIJHL with five shutouts.
