POSTSEASON PREVIEW

 

The playoffs are rapidly approaching and it looks as if the Golden Rockets will have to wait and see who they draw in the first round. It will likely be the Kimberley Dynamiters or the Fernie Ghostriders. Both teams have had very strong regular seasons and both are battling for first place in the Eddie Mountain Division of the KIJHL. The Rockets will finish fourth in the division and wait to see who they will face off against.

 

The Rockets have had their troubles with both Kimberley and Fernie. Having said this Golden has given both teams trouble in several of the games this year. Golden has beaten the Dynamiters on 2 occasions. That includes a recent 5-2 win on home ice. The Rockets have not beaten the Ghostriders this year but have lost two heartbreaking losses where they lead by 2 goals going into the third period.

Even though the task at hand may appear daunting the Golden Rockets have been playing better and more consistent hockey in the new year. The players and coaching staff feel confident that they can not only compete with the likes of Kimberley and Fernie but beat both squads come the first round of the playoffs. There is something to be said about peaking at the right time. The Rockets will strive to achieve this. They think they can upset either Kimberley or Fernie to advance to the second round.
