Playoff Hockey

At the end of a grueling season, The Golden Rockets are in the Playoffs. We are paired against the Creston Valley Thundercats for the First Round in a best of seven series. After splitting the first two games in Creston, the team was on Home ice Thursday February 17^th for Game 3.

The crowd was on the edge of the seat in the first period, which saw the boys flying up and down the ice with fast and furious end to end action. Both teams ended the period scoreless.

Golden’s, Tanner Cochrane  was first to put  the puck in the net with a pass from Joshua MacDonald  at the 18:59 of the second period to end the period with Golden ahead by one.

The Rockets held their lead until 8:43 of the 3^rd period when Creston came back with a pass from Scott Swiston and Kane Dawe to Brandon Formosa to score on the Golden net.

At 4;23 of the 3^rd period Creston put the puck in the net for the go ahead goal, with a pass from Cody Antos and Robbie Stuckey to Brendan Heinrich.

The Rockets dug in and came back at  3:25 of 3^rd with the a pass from Tyler Fairall to Justin Fulton to tie  the game. The 3^rd period ended in a tie, forcing the game into overtime.

The 4 on 4 overtime period started with both teams hustling and the crowd cheering. A pass from Cody Antos and Robbie Stuckey to Brock Ward into the Rockets net at 13:22 put Creston ahead by one and ended the Game.  Creston scored at 13:22 with Creston coming out on top 3 -2.

It was an exciting and heart breaking loss for the Golden Rockets.
